Privacy Policy

Animal Aid is committed to protecting your personal information and respects your privacy.

If you have any further questions, please contact us.

By continuing to use this website you are agreeing to the terms of this privacy policy.

What information will Animal Aid collect about me?

When you create an account we record the details you provide, such as your name, address, telephone and email. We also keep a record of any online orders that you make. You can see your account details and order history by logging into your account.

How will Animal Aid use my information?

The legal justification for processing your data and contacting you is what the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) calls 'legitimate interest'. We consider that we have this legitimate interest because you have opened a shop account, and may be interested in other aspects of our work.

Details of how we use your information, including how you can stop us contacting you, are given below:

Postal addresses:

We use the postal addresses you provide to verify card details and to send out goods. We will also normally send you fundraising appeals, and if eligible, Outrage magazine four times per year. All our mailings give you a prominent and straightforward way to opt-out of receiving further mailings. If you wish to opt out now or restrict how much mail you receive, you can let us know by visiting animalaid.org.uk/mailings, telephoning 01732 364 546, sending us a message, or emailing info@animalaid.org.uk.

The awareness and funds we raise through postal correspondence is vital for allowing us to continue our work to end animal cruelty. We receive no state funding and rely entirely on the generosity of our supporters.

Email addresses:

We use your email address to keep you informed about your order, including sending notifications when your order is placed and when it is despatched.

If you are subscribed to receive shop newsletters, we will also send you emails about new products, special offers, and other promotions, from time to time. You can stop receiving these emails by simply clicking the 'unsubscribe' link at the bottom of these emails, or via your account.

Telephone numbers:

We may use your telephone number if we have a query about your order, usually if we are unable to get a response by email.

Card details:

Your card details are entered on Opayo's (formerly SagePay) secure server in order to process your payment. Your full credit or debit card details are never stored on any databases we hold. You may be asked if you want to 'store' your purchase information for faster checkout at a later date. Where you do store this information the full card information is never stored on any databases we hold. Instead we send the full information to our payment processor, who then send back a secure 'token' which we then use to place future purchases. To help you identify stored cards, we may store the last 4 digits of the card, the type of card (e.g. Visa or MasterCard) and the expiry date.

Order details:

We keep a record of the online orders that you make. You can see your order history by logging into your account. We may use these details to make sure that any newsletters we send are appropriate.

Will Animal Aid pass my information on to anyone else?

We never sell, rent or exchange your information with other organisations. We may share information with trusted third parties who process information on our behalf, such as payment processors. When you order goods from our online shop, your payment is processed by a third party payment processor (Opayo), who specialise in the secure online capture and processing of card transactions.

Do you use cookies and logs?

We use cookies to keep track of the contents of your shopping basket and allow you to proceed through the checkout. We also use cookies to collect statistical data, without identifying you as an individual. Information about your internet connection and browsing actions are logged, such as IP address, browser type, operating system, web pages viewed, and any errors encountered. This information helps us make improvements to our website. For more information about cookies see www.aboutcookies.org.

Can I see the data you hold about me?

Yes, the information we hold about you is available to see by logging into your account, or contact us.

What if I don't want you to hold my data any more?

If you would like us to delete your account, please contact us.

What if I am unhappy about what you have done with my data?

You can complain to the Director of Animal Aid. Call Animal Aid on 01732 364546 or email info@animalaid.org.uk or write to Animal Aid, The Old Chapel, Bradford Street, Tonbridge, TN9 1AW. Alternatively, you can call the Information Commissioner's Office on 0303 123 1113.
