Marianne and Jean-Michel are both 27 and French, and came to the UK to teach French and Learning Support on the North Coast of Scotland in 2005. Both have been vegetarian since the age of 17. They asked a class to research vegetarianism/animal rights, and one pupil showed them the Animal Aid website, which was where they "seriously" heard about veganism for the first time. The following week they gave it a try, thinking it would mean missing out on a lot of things, but they ended up loving it, discovering lots of tasty food never tried before! Since then they've done their best to show people how good and healthy, and kinder, and greener etc. a vegan lifestyle can be, wowing colleagues with cupcakes at break time, joining several campaign groups and bringing animal welfare into virtually every lesson they teach.
